I guess you know the problem quite well. Full of determination you schedule your workout first thing next morning. But once the heroically anticipated crack of dawn arrives your natural avoidance mechanism starts to kick in - maybe you hit the snooze button once too often, feel exhausted from the day before or unusually stressed out, have zero joy over your workout, or find any other imaginable excuse to shift your workout to the evening hours.
After a long day at work of course you are again not short on ingenious excuses not to embark on your exercise regimen. Instead you find yourself sitting on the couch and feeling frustrated. Yes, I certainly was trapped in this vicious circle for a long time.
For me, finding a suitable kind of workout - as well as the right time to do it - was a far cry. But a few months ago I gladly found the perfect life-workout balance for me.
Apart from my regular HIT Workouts three times a week I discovered for myself the simplest and also most satisfying way of exercising - walking.
I simply walk to my office and back almost every day (this brings me to about 10 km a day) in a small to medium pace. I feel truly great since I started doing this - and I suddenly have so much energy as well.
No more excuses in the morning. This is a fixed routine for me - and also a much-loved staple in my daily schedule. I look forward to each and every walk. Even if I have meetings really early in the morning - this is not an obstacle for me anymore.
Since walking has so many benefits, I created a list for you - so you have no reason not to start as well.
Walking – It`s free – everyone can do it
Walking is a gentle, low-impact form of exercise that’s easy, free and suitable for almost everybody.
Walking - You don’t need any equipment
Everything you need is right there and you can do it everywhere. The only thing I would suggest is a pair of good walking shoes.
Walking reduces stress and gives you a chance to think
When you walk, you think. Walking clears your head and gives you the chance to come up with new ideas, work through problems, cool off after a long and stressful day, and also feel well balanced.
Walking tones your legs, bum and also tummy
Walking regularly can help you strengthen and shape your legs, giving great definition to calves, hamstrings, quads and also lifting your glutes. If you really pay attention to your posture as you walk you can also tone your abs.
Walking gives you energy
Even though it seems like a paradox, a brisk walk is one of the best natural energizers around.
Walking boosts your vitamin D levels
If you’re walking outside in daylight, you’ll be boosting your body’s stores of Vitamin D.
Walking strengthens your heart
Regular walking has been shown to reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke.
Walking does not lead to injury
Since this is a low-impact workout, walking does not pose the same risk of injury as opposed to working out in the gym or running.
I guess these are some pretty good reasons for you to start walking.
So go on and try it out -It will change your life - I promise!
